The Day Dawn is Breaking and I am Awaking?

Are you sitting down? I'm assuming you are, because most people sit in front of their computer rather than standing or kneeling or awkwardly leaning. [Joe Jr: Hey, Luce! This guy botherin' ya? Lucy: No, Joe Jr. I'm fine. Joe Jr: Are ya sure? Cuz it looks like he's....leeeeeanin'.] But just in case, I'm warning you: sit down. Now. You are about to be shockED and amazED.

I, Madeline Greenhalgh, queen of the fifteen minute scramble to get ready for the day due to my inability to get out of bed on time, have been waking up EARLY. Ok. Early for me. As in seven in the morning. And yes, all you seminary students our there are scoffing at me right now, but don't you forget that a few short months ago, I was right there with you. Well. Kind of. Isortofoverslepteverymorningandwaslate. But that's not the point. The point is that I don't have class until nine every morning. And I wake up at seven. That's two whole hours.

The shocking part? I like it. I've found that it is quite invigorating to have a nice, relaxed morning. I have ample time to shower and do my hair and all the normal girly morning routine things AND make a real breakfast and read my scriptures before going to class. Some days, I even have time to study and get ahead on assignments.

In general, I have felt less stressed and (oddly enough) more energetic since I started waking up earlier. I get my work done earlier in the day and have more time to relax. So, I would definitely be an advocate for waking up earlier than you *technically* have to. And this is coming from a night-owl who loves sleep more than almost any other activity.

Try it out, sometime. It could change your life!

  1. That's funny you posted about this, because I was just thinking about wanting to do this. Thanks for the motivation :)
