picky palate probs

the problems that plague individuals with overly sensitive or particular taste buds

realizing you've tried exactly three things on the menu at Zupa's because you're too afraid to branch out

driving to another grocery store because the one you're in doesn't have the right brand of hummus

enduring the endless teasing and mocking about the foods you "should" like but don't

the panic that accompanies dinner invitations—what if they serve something you don't like???

being told you're "closed minded to food"

choking down despised foods to be polite when eating at somebody else's home

not trying local foods when traveling because it sounded scary or weird and then regretting that choice after you've left

the look of pure, unadulterated horror one someone's face when they discover you don't like milk

the disappointment that accompanies a thorough scouring of the post-Easter 50% off candy section at the grocery store only to find every variety of jelly beans known to man except Starburst jelly beans.

the moment you realize that your mother can predict with 86% accuracy what you will order at a restaurant regardless of whether or not you've ever been there

heavy sleeper probs

the problems faced by those whose circadian rhythm sometimes nears hibernation status

people assuming that nothing can wake you up under any circumstances and consequently not even trying to be quiet and/or having loud conversations in your bedroom while you are were sleeping

having to set four alarms to wake up sort of on time for class/work/life

constantly looking like a disheveled slob with no regard for appearance due to sleeping through said alarms and having to rush to get ready in time

needing to change your alarm tone every few weeks because you've gotten too used to it and it doesn't even wake you up

the nightly fear that you won't wake up for class/work/life that prevents you from falling asleep which in turn diminishes the likelihood of you waking up on time for class/work/life

panicking every time you wake up on your own because that must mean you slept through your alarms and you're late

spending too much time on the internet researching expensive alarm clocks that have a chance of waking you up

roommates becoming (understandably) disgruntled due to the irritating and persistent nature of your four alarms

realizing that even the most "fool proof" alarm apps aren't enough to get you up—you can solve math problems, connect the dots, and complete puzzles in a semi-awake state before falling right back into that REM cycle

probs

Probs: we all have them.

From the insufferable quirks of your coworkers to the time the ice cream parlor ran out of your favorite flavor on the #worstdayofyourlife to the awkward moments that keep you awake at night, we have them. We cause them. We get them.

Which is why I'm going to blog about them. Now, keep in mind that the probs I will be posting are purely for entertainment value. I'm well aware that the world is plagued with actual problems that are very serious. So you can #firstworldprob me all you want. I'm actually quite the aficionado of #firstworldprobs-ing people. Ask my roommates. We do it all the time.

But this is for fun. This is to make light of the little things that get under my skin or make me roll my eyes or just straight up make me laugh.

So stay tuned for a series of blog posts that will crop up whenever I darn well feel like writing them all about the probs we face in life. Feel free to submit your own suggestions for probs categories—I'd love to hear them!

And yes, I'm aware that I'm not the best at keeping up with series that I have planned. But the way I see it, there are more than enough probs to go around, so this one should be easy :)

DISCLAIMER: I  consider myself to be a fairly happy person who is quite content with the way her life is currently. Don't think that I only focus on the probs of life. Life is good, guys. Again, this is just for fun!
