I woke up Monday morning with a firmly planted I-don't-want-to-go-to-school-this-week attitude. And unfortunately it followed me around all week like a stray alley cat you made the mistake of giving a bowl of milk.
Side story: A few weeks ago, we heard meowing outside our apartment, and L opened the door to see what was going on, and this cat just darted in and hopped up onto the couch and started purring all over me (who has an extreme dislike of the little fur balls) and one of my friends (who is allergic to cats). I promptly handed the cat back to L and told her NOT to feed it and to put it back outside. I'm heartless, I know. Judge me if you want.
Anyway. I'm just glad the week is over. My journal entry on Tuesday read "Tuesdays are long. I'm glad this one is over." Sometimes I think that I need to do a better job of cherishing each moment and seizing the day and blah blah blah. But not right now. Right now I'm just glad to have another week done and a better one to look forward to after two days of relaxation.
Also, in case you were wondering, I finally learned the difference between invoke and evoke today. And that there is in fact a difference between premiere and premier. Look it up.
And on to other awkward instances in my life (because obviously it's completely awkward for an ELang major like myself to not know every single thing about every single word. duh).
I almost got hit by a car yesterday. Twice. I'm being serious here...I know what y'all are thinking, but for once in my life I'm actually not exaggerating. My heartbeat sped up a tiny bit when I reached that intersection today on the way home from work and I looked both ways about 60 times (that might be an exaggeration) before crossing the street even though I clearly had a walk sign. But I had one yesterday too, and that didn't stop two psycho drivers from accelerating into the turn and nearly wiping me out.
This morning I slept through my alarm (shocker) and woke up about twelve minutes before I needed to leave for class. Guess who made it on time? Yeah, that's right. I am accepting hugs, high fives, and cookies for anybody who needs to fill their 'atta girl quota for the week. You know where to find me.
Also I nearly body slammed a fellow BYU Broadcasting employee today while rounding a corner. Twice. At least it wasn't as bad as the time I almost smacked two Studio C cast members in the face with a door. I can just imagine the exclamations of pure, unadulterated horror that would escape the mouths of Happy Valley's pre-teen population if they saw their beloved Matt Meese at Walmart with any sort of facial injury. But for real, guys. I've seen the way these little fangirls react to the men of Studio C. It's somewhat akin to the way I imagine I'd react if I ever met J.K. Rowling or Johannes Gutenberg. (Maybe someday I'll explain my oddly fanatical respect for Herr Gutenberg.)
So in summary, school is rough sometimes, and life is full of awkwardness and criminal cats who like to break into homes. But that's okay, because I have Reese's Cups in the freezer, a pair of sweatpants calling my name, and two whole days before I have to go to a single class.
Happy Friday, everybody.
